The Three Ps of a Great Notary

You’re crazy about your kids. Since before they were born, you’ve imagined amazing futures for them: the teams they’ll join, the trips they’ll take, the passions they’ll follow.

Nobody likes to think about it, but bad things happen – accidents, illness, mishaps, tragedies. By definition they’re unexpected, unpredictable and almost always unpleasant.

Sure, you can’t spend your whole life anticipating disaster. But, you can spend a little bit of time planning for it. Just once.

Write it all down: your dreams, your wishes, your wants for their future. You’ll probably never need it, but if you do, your kids are that more likely to get the life you imagined for them, with or without you.

Where to start? How about a notary public? This is just one example of the ways a notary can help you plan your life. They also do wills, real estate, power of attorney, representation agreements, and the list goes on.

A few days ago, I sat down for a chat with Kristy Martin, of Farley Martin Notaries Public Inc., and found the three Ps to look for in an awesome notary.

1. Professionalism

Notaries are about documents, not arguments. If you need a legal document a notary can help. Brand new to the profession, Kristy brings fresh, keen knowledge and a palpable enthusiasm for all she does. She tells stories about its past and talks confidently about its future.

Her father, James, has been in the business for over 22 years. Kristy glows respect and admiration when she talks about her dad, his expertise and their business. Together, they make a great team. With different personalities, perspectives and passions they come together to offer their clients professional, thoughtful service they’re proud of.

2. Personality

Notaries provide a service. Like any other service provider you should choose one you like. No, you’re not looking for a new best friend, but notaries deal with sensitive information. Make sure to pick someone you can imagine talking to about your money, your death, your real estate and all the uncomfortable bits in between.

3. Passion

Notaries help people plan their lives. They create the documents you need to ensure that things get done the way you want them done – in life and in death. That’s a big job. You want someone on your side who’s actually excited about helping people.

Kristy’s that person. She’s passionate about what she does. She’s been known to come in on a Sunday: she couldn’t help herself, she was close by, her client needed help. She’ll also gladly direct you down the street to a colleague if she thinks that’ll get you what you need faster.
